So you’ve started keto and you keep hearing about this keto coffee and wondering what it is and how to make it. It’s super easy, really delicious and can be a great addition to your keto diet.
Below are the typical ingredients but that’s not to say you can’t do something different.
- 1 cup of black coffee
- 1 tbsp of grass fed butter
- 1 tbsp of coconut oil or MCT oil (be careful if you’re new to MCT oil and start with a smaller dose to avoid digestive issues)
- 1-2 tbsp of heavy whipping cream (consider one without carrageenan-it can cause inflammation and bloating)
- Stevia if you want a sweeter flavor
Mix it all together using a small hand held mixer or blender and enjoy! Obviously you don’t have to have those devices but they really do help blend it together nicely! And it can even give you a little froth and when you sprinkle with some cinnamon it’s like a cappuccino!
That’s the basic keto coffee but you don’t have to stop there. Here’s a few other things people add:
Xanthan gum – Another great addition that’s been noted to give your keto coffee a nice creamy taste/texture.
Use a collagen powder? Add it to your coffee.
Want a different flavor? Add some pumpkin pie spice or nutmeg. It’s technically ok to use sugar free syrups (typically sweetened with sucralose) but definitely keep this in moderation and take note on whether or not they affect you in a negative way.
